The Charger golf team took fourth overall in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship after battling up three spots during the last 36 holes on April 21.
Junior Robert Thompson and sophomore Jackson Piacsek both finished ninth overall with finishes at 221.
“I think G-MAC’s went OK,” Thompson said. “Obviously we had a bad first round and really bad first nine holes, but I’m happy with the grit that we showed to battle back into fourth place and keep the chance of continuing our season alive.”
The Chargers also finished fourth overall in the G-MAC, making them eligible for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Super Regional May 7.
“For us, regionals really isn’t in our hands anymore,” Piacsek said. “If we get into regionals I think we could have a great opportunity to compete, but right now that lies in the hands of the NCAA.”
