Worship Under the Stars, a night of music and praise, is set to take place in Quincy, Michigan Sept. 19 with a live band and preaching from Caleb Bigler ’25.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. around a gazebo, in the center of the six sheds that make up Market 1858–a revitalization project in downtown Quincy.
Alisha Green, organizer of the event and owner of one of the sheds, Unleavened, said this will be the second worship night she has hosted.
“Last time it was standing room only, we packed out the courtyard, and people who were just walking by ended up staying for three hours to worship,” Green said.
She said her mission is to share God’s goodness by selling Unleavened’s sourdough bread, and that she felt led to do more ministry in the area.
“Unleavened is my own personal ministry, and I just happen to have a cool space to do some events,” Green said. “My vision is just to be faithful and obedient with what God has given me here.”
The event has received support from those in the city, according to Green. The coffee shop across the street, Refuge Coffee House, plans to stay open past its normal hours to sell coffee to those who attend.
Following worship songs to start the evening, Bigler, a Hillsdale College alumnus and Hillsdale United Brethren Ministry Resident, will preach. The night will close with additional worship.
“I’m excited to bring what the Lord has put on my heart to share with the people, and I love opportunities to worship in creation, so that will be really exciting,” Bigler said.
He said he felt encouraged to help lead because of the great response the event had in the community.
“It could be a really cool opportunity for Hillsdale College students to see people outside of their normal church community,” Bigler said. “I think it is good to step into a neighboring town like Quincy and share with believers in worship.”
Green said she is excited to see how God is moving and growing in Quincy.
“I hope people bring open hearts and ears for what God is going to be saying, and just gather his community and worship Him,” Green said. “We are not fighting for victory; Christ has already won the victory.”
Green said those who attend are encouraged to come early, bring lawn chairs, and claim a spot in the yard around the gazebo. There will also be a food truck opening at 5:30 p.m. to sell dinner.
“I hope every single person in Quincy comes to the event,” Bigler said.
