A Hillsdale alumnus and his indie-rock band are playing at Rough Draft in between shows in Detroit and Chicago this weekend.
Midamerican Elevator will play at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Rough Draft. The Chicago-based band is set to release its debut album this year. Drummer Dean Sinclair ‘18 is a freelancer currently playing with the band.
“The show at Rough Draft will be slightly more stripped-down than other shows,” Sinclair said. “I think the venue will lend itself to their music.”
Sinclair described the band as a female-fronted indie band similar to singer Phoebe Bridgers.
The band is playing at the Armageddon Beachparty Lounge in Detroit on Saturday and the Montrose Saloon in Chicago on April 14. But in between, Sinclair is stopping back at his roots.
“This college and the opportunities I had there helped shape me into the professional I am today,” he said. “I hope to see some new faces in addition to my many friends who remained in Hillsdale.”
Marty Hubbard, co-owner of Rough Draft, said she’s looking forward to hosting Midamerican Elevator.
“Dean is an amazing drummer,” she said. “We’re very excited to have him and the band play this weekend.”
