Nine students, as well as Enactus Adviser and Executive Director of Career Services Michael Murray, will leave Hillsdale College tonight for the Hyatt Regency, McCormick Place in Chicago to take part in an Enactus regional competition Friday, April 12.
Enactus, formerly SIFE, is a national organization which, according to their website is “a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world.” The national organization hosts regional competitions across the country, said freshman Shaun Lichti, who is attending as media director for the chapter.
At the Chicago competition, the chapter will present results from three projects on which they have been working, to be judged by a panel of business executives, managers, and entrepreneurs, according to junior Jonathan Slonim, chapter president.
Slonim said the chapter has been helping Tastes of Life, a local non-profit restaurant, with marketing, as well as aiding other local businesses. Additionally, they have been providing assistance with donor management and internet marketing to the Lingap Center, an orphanage in the Philippines founded by Hillsdale alumnus John Drake. Finally, the chapter hosted the recent dorm energy competition here at the college.
If the judges find these projects sufficiently impressive, the chapter will advance to nationals, which will be held this May in Kansas City, Mo.
