While many students took time to enjoy break and avoid work, 13 members of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity spent a day of Spring Break volunteering. A small group from the fraternity went on break with president of DTD, Derek Fields to his home in Florida.
The 13 members assisted in running a golf tournament called “Par for the Chorus” in Dade City, Fla.
The tournament raised $9,200 for a children’s choir to travel to the 2013 International Congress of Pueri Cantores in Washington, D.C.
Pueri Cantores is a Catholic organization consisting of the top children’s choirs from countries all over the world.
On New Year’s Day in 2011, the choir sang at the Vatican for Pope Benedict XVI and has made many trips to different cities and countries.
Fields’ sister was one of the members of the choir that went to the Vatican to sing for the pope, and DTD helped make another choir trip possible.
Fields said that most of the other volunteer activities in which the Hillsdale Kappa chapter of DTD participates are in association with A Few Good Men.
