With summer bikini months just a few weeks away, many search for a healthy alternative to fast food. Nutrition Solutions, a nutrition club located on 77 N. Broad St., provides healthy refreshments, weight loss programs, and guides to healthier living. Owned and operated by Vicki Bond, the club’s slogan is “Fast Food for Smart People.”
What is the mission of Nutrition Solutions?
We are a nutrition club with the mission to get good nutrition to everyone. We charge for the use of the club. One of our main refreshments is a protein shake. It’s $5.50 for the shake, tea, and aloe.
How did you develop a relationship with the Hillsdale College Athletic Department?
We had some of the [Hillsdale College] girls’ volleyball team coming in here. We also had the basketball team, who came in because they said that they could do a shake before the game, but they didn’t want to eat a meal. Then word-of-mouth spread up there about us. Now we have a lot of college kids coming down, which we absolutely love. They really like the protein in the shakes.
What nutrition is in the shakes?
It is a meal replacement shake made by doctors. It has all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that you need for a meal, and it’s under 300 calories. Between the meal replacement shake mix and the protein powder and the water, you are getting 24 grams of protein and everything that you need for a meal.
What other services, besides selling shakes, do you offer to college students?
I do weight loss challenges, which is two shakes a day and a sensible meal. We have a lot of success with weight-loss challenge people. You get healthy as a side effect of losing weight. We are also promoting a program where students can sign up as a distributor, and even if you don’t sell the products, you then can purchase them and take them home. We’ve had a lot of kids saying, “I don’t know what I am going to do this summer.” I’m just like, you purchase the products, then I share my recipes, and you can make them at home.
