Sohn Residence’s carnival will return for a second year, but this time with a patriotic spin. The upperclassmen women’s dorm will hold a Boston Tea Party-themed carnival April 25.

The carnival will take place outside the front entrance of Sohn from 4-7 p.m.

“People should be expecting free food and games,” junior and Sohn Resident Assistant Chloe Noller said. “We will have hot dogs, root beer floats, tug-of-war, and you will get to throw tea into the harbor or play cornhole.”

Noller said the event idea originally began as a tea party for the women on campus, and then she suggested making the theme Boston Tea Party. The team decided on hosting its second carnival, but this time with a colonial theme.

“Last year we hosted a carnival in partnership with the Suites,” junior and Sohn Resident Assistant Emily Schutte said. “I think people really enjoyed that so we wanted to pull from things we did last year, but also put our own spin on it.”

Schutte said colonial attire is encouraged.

“The important thing is that people come dressed according to the theme of the party,” Schutte said. “We are hoping to see people dressed as Founding Fathers or in some colonial attire.”

Noller said she thinks this event is a testament to the culture of Sohn.

“It’s been cool to see our women come together around events that we have had,” Noller said. “People loved the carnival last year and we are excited to carry on that tradition this year and also bring something different to the table.”
