Students will be able to paint their own pottery at the Student Activities Board’s People’s Choice event tonight.
The event, open to 20 students, will take place at Toasted Mud, a pottery store in downtown Hillsdale and will run from 6:45-8:45 p.m.
For the People’s Choice event, students wrote their suggestions on a blackboard in the Grewcock Student Union and would write a tally mark under their favorite option. The top four selections moved to a vote on a campus-wide survey, with the Toasted Mud event coming out on top.
“We sort of gave the students free reign when it came to choices,” junior and SAB member John Schaefer said. “Afterward, we decided which events would be feasible and went from there.”
Schaefer said students will get a discount voucher for the pieces they paint at the event.
“We’ve done events at Toasted Mud in the past and people have always loved it,” Schaefer said.
Students will be able to paint items such as plates, mugs, and bowls, which Toasted Mud will glaze and fire.
Junior and SAB event team lead Abby Richardson said this is the first time SAB has done a People’s Choice event.
“We had done movie nights in the past where students could vote for their favorites, but as far as the overall event being completely chosen by students, this is a new thing we’ve done,” Richardson said.
