The Udder Side reopened for the season on Tuesday, March 1.
“They missed us,” The Udder Side worker Stacey Williams said. “We were lined up out to the street last night.”
The ice cream restaurant, which routinely closes for several months in the fall and winter, will serve customers during regular business hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. It will be open until the end of October.
Williams said The Udder Side is offering several new flavors this season.
“We’ve got some different hard ice cream flavors that we’re trying. We’re calling one Grasshopper, it’s mint and it’s got some mint cups and a fudge swirl,” Williams said. “We have our Chocolate Almond back, and Coffee Cake back– we found a different person that makes it.”
The restaurant also offers a flavor called “Cookie Monster,” which consists of blue ice cream with cookie dough and oreos mixed into it.
Working at the restaurant is different every day for Williams, she said, but work stays busy. Williams said she enjoys the busyness of the day-to-day.
Customers Connie and Cheyenne Winter brought their two dogs to The Udder Side, where they sat outside and enjoyed ice cream.
“Seeing our regular customers is fun for us, too,” Williams said.
Sophomore Abigail Snyder stayed at the college to take summer classes in 2021. Snyder went to The Udder Side several times each week, she said.
“It has quality ice cream and unique flavors that make it so you could go to The Udder Side three times a week for six weeks and never get the same thing,” Snyder said. “I know from personal experience!”
Snyder said she enjoys the outdoor eating accommodations at The Udder Side.
“It also provides a fantastic atmosphere for people to get together and enjoy some ice cream and food after a busy week,” Snyder said. “Some of my best Hillsdale memories include sitting outside The Udder Side and talking with friends!”
