As the new semester gets into full swing, the Student Activities Board invites the student body to join them at the annual Concert on the Quad, which will be held on the lawn in front of Central Hall from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 11th.
This year the event will feature music ranging from folk to pop to restaurant-style music played by acoustic student bands, according to Luciya Katcher, big event coordinator for SAB.––
“We really wanted to move this event earlier in the semester because of its COVID friendliness,” Katcher said, describing the safety measures due to coronavirus, which include contactless food options and the social distancing the event provides naturally.
“It gives people a lot of opportunities to hear new music and celebrate new performers,” said senior, Taryn Murphy, who will be performing with her act Brie and Honey. “There are always all kinds of singers and performers from different genres.”
While SAB took safety precautions into consideration, their primary goal with Concert on the Quad is a relaxed atmosphere where students can come, meet each other and show appreciation for the musical talent of their peers.
“Music is really special because it brings people together,” Murphy said, “it’s really important to relax and sit and maybe put away the world and studies for a while.”
