The Heritage Association will host Hillsdale’s biannual Art Around Town event in downtown Hillsdale on May 5th from 5 to 7 p.m.
Downtown businesses plan on hosting 25 local artists in their stores, giving them an opportunity to display their artwork to the public and bring foot traffic to local shops. Some of the artists include students from local schools like Will Carleton Academy.
During the event, a People’s Choice Award will judge the best piece of art, awarding the winner with a trophy.
In addition to the in-store artwork displays, the recently established Youth Council and Youth Advisory Board will bring artwork to the streets for the community’s participation.
With a live string band, local DJ, face paint, balloon art station, sidewalk art, floral arrangement instructional booths, and art displays, Art Around Town will have something for everyone.
“We are really excited for this event because we have so many activities planned for the family,” Connie Sexton, co-event manager of The Heritage Association, said.
They are hopeful for a successful event, and expect 300 participants.
