Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia men’s music honorary’s annual Battle of the Bands will take place Friday night, with a lineup that includes four student band performances and a special appearance by Simpson Dormitory’s  group Patches of Paisley.

The event, which features a cash bar, will be held at the Elks Lodge at 60 North Manning St. and will run from 8-12 p.m. Professor of History Bradley Birzer, Professor of Economics Ivan Pongracic, and Music Department Chair James Holleman will judge the competition.

Each band will get a half-hour set. Nasty Earl, featuring senior Joel Calvert, junior Andrew Egger, sophomore Mark Naida, and sophomore Dean Sinclair, will kick off the event at 8:15 p.m., followed by the duo Ice Chimes, comprised of seniors Joel Calvert and Catherine Coffey.

“I’m most excited for them, because they’re in love and they’ll be great,” sophomore Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity Education Officer Stephen Savas said. “I’m sure there’ll be a sea chantey.”

Members of the third band of the night, Deaf Davy and the Wineboxes, include senior Forester McClatchey, freshman Isabelle Parell, sophomore Jacob Hann, and a brass section featuring juniors Luke Zahari and Conor Woodfin.

The night will conclude with performances by Avicenna and the Floating Men (the band of seniors Ellen Hogan and Colin Wilson), and a Patches of Paisley performance.

Tickets for the event are available in the Grewcock Student Union during mealtimes through lunch on Friday. Tickets bought in advance are $3, tickets at the door are $5.
