Begun: I think I started writing it Summer of 2011.
Topic: The topic of my blog is dyslexic learning for university students. It’s both an overview of the common problems DS’s face and a journal of some of the methods that I have used in the past four years at school.
Inspiration: First and foremost, I am dyslexic. It started out as a private blog (no public access) that I used as a reminder to me how I ought to study and take exams. The dyslexic brain is really quite strange. Many successful people are indeed dyslexics.
What we lack in testing savvy or natural writing ability we make up with hard work and strong personalities. I will also say that it can be extremely difficult to have conversations with fellow dyslexics. We all forget details and all remember weird things and get easily distracted. It just becomes confusing and really trying. But, it’s a good time too.
We all know what it’s like to be told that we’re stupid or illogical in the classroom, to be called lazy or a smartass, to be told that we’ll never amount to anything. And yes, professors told me those things my freshman year at Hillsdale. I want other dyslexic students to be inspired that they too are intelligent…even if their marks don’t add up to mega smarts. Many dyslexics have areas of intelligence that are not recognized in the exam room. Leonardo Da Vinci was dyslexic for example. So was Walt Disney…Dyslexics are an odd bunch of critters, but we do have talent and we do have intelligence even if those around us have their doubts.

Begun: “When I lived in DC I had a blog about DC life, about how we never had food and would only eat cookies. I also had a travel blog when I was in Turkey, just to remember the trip. Right now, I get about 800 views a day. Oh, I also had a blog in 5th grade. I blogged about the boys in my class.”
Topic: It’s a combination of my personal musings and feeling and a response to the Hillsdale culture.
Inspiration: Mr. [John] Miller always says that to become a writer, you have to read good writers and write. Blogging makes me write. Here at Hillsdale, we’re really serious, and it’s fun to poke fun at ourselves. I wanted to start a gossip column, but Caleb [Whitmer] stopped me. This is my outlet.

Topic: My blog is where I publish all of the playlists I have made over the past couple years. I spend probably too much time plumbing the depths of Spotify in an attempt to find great music from bands I’ve never heard of before and matching those songs with other ones I’ve found. When I have time to burn, I also have a band of the week and a song of the day.
Inspiration: I’m usually really proud of the playlists I make and enjoy sharing them with my friends.

Topic: Political, in nature. I’m interested in politics. My first article was about the future of the GOP. I’ve written about minimum wage and the fast foot thing in New York. I just went to CPAC, so I’ll probably be writing about that. It’s mainly about current political events.
Inspiration: I know this can often be taken the wrong way, but I see a lot of problems with the current administration, but also the Republican party. I’m naturally a very skeptical person, so I think my inspiration often comes from my skepticism of things. I was a writer for my high school newspaper for a couple years, and then my senior year I became a columnist. I liked writing columns more than writing stories that were assigned like, “Oh, go write on this sports event.” My dad actually suggested that I write for it. They had the application on their website, and I read the posts for about a month or month and a half before I started writing.

Begun: Well, it’s kind of a long story. I’ve been blogging since 2010. This is my second blog, actually. My first blog was a quasi-professional blog, where I wrote two to three times a week with the Higher Calling Network. I took a break to reevaluate why I was blogging. I wanted it to be less to make a name for myself, to be popular, and more just to be faithful in the gifts that God has given me.
Topic: “It’s about the little things that surprise me with their beauty or just the things that the Lord is using. I write about funny things that happen to me or really big revelations that come along in life.
Inspiration: I think I’m most inspired when I feel like someone can read my writing, feel what I feel, and be able to take away something meaningful that will change them or impact them or encourage them. When something happens to me like, “Oh my goodness,” I want don’t want to keep it to myself. I want to share it with people.
