This year, the Hillsdale men’s club volleyball team looks forward to the addition of players, a new assistant coach, and a more competitive schedule.

As of now, the team has around 20 players that participate in practices and workouts every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The club is divided into two teams: a competitive travel team, and a practice team that requires a lighter commitment.

As for the coaching staff, the new assistant director of recreational sports Kevin Foeman joined head coaches Mike Clark and Ryan Servold.

According to the team’s webpage, the men’s volleyball club provides the men of Hillsdale College with an opportunity for competitive intercollegiate volleyball and skill development.

This season, that opportunity comes in the form of tournaments that will pit the team against the likes of Michigan State, Grand Valley, Adrian College, and Grace College club teams.

“We expect to be fairly competitive,” Servold said. “Last year we went to a tournament and finished second in our pool.”

Servold said the purpose of playing against bigger schools like Michigan State and Grand Valley is to “get our name out there.” He said that the more well-known the team becomes, the more tournaments they will be able to play in.

Foeman said that the goal for the team this year is to “develop a successful club program that will compete in regular tournaments in the area and consistently improve throughout the season.”

The team is in the process of developing a system on their website so that fans can keep up with live scores and updates when they play. Be sure to show your support and keep up with this team that is sure to impress on the court.
