The Hillsdale College International Club is hosting a week-long series of fundraising events. All the proceeds will go to the nonprofit organization Doctors Without Borders.

The philanthropic activities include a two-day coffee promotion at A.J.’s Café, the showing of a documentary, a dance, and an international potluck-style dinner.

First established in France in 1971, Doctors Without Borders is organization of international doctors and nurses who provide medical assistance in poverty- stricken, war-torn countries. It also aids in crises, such as natural disasters.

“They are not affiliated with any government or any religious creed; they try to stay as neutral as possible,” said junior Grace Ramsey, the International Club marketing director.

To help the cause, Saga Inc. and A.J.’s donated five percent of every coffee drink sold Monday and Tuesday to Doctors without Borders. Wednesday evening, the club showed the documentary “Access to the Danger Zone”— a film that follows the doctors through various countries as they provide medical relief.

The club will host a dance “Club INTL” in the Knorr Family Dining Room on April 13 at 9 p.m. The dance will feature hit songs from across the globe, and tickets are $3 if bought in advance or $5 at the door.

There will also be an international potluck dinner held in the solarium of Mauck Residence on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. The dinner costs $5 per person; however, anyone who brings an international food dish to share will be admitted for free. To sign up to bring a dish, contact Grace Ramsey.

Proceeds from the dance and dinner will go to Doctors Without Borders as well. There is a combined price of $7 for those who wish to attend both events.
