Home News Simpson to host miniature golf tournament for charity

The third floor south side of Simpson Residence will host a miniature golf tournament on April 5.

A few dollars will be charged to play and proceeds will go to either The King’s Cupboard, a food pantry in Hillsdale, or to “Nefarious,” the anti-human trafficking ministry.

“[Junior] Garret Holt and I were having a sleepover, and we woke up and said ‘Quick! What are you thinking of? On three.’ And then, on three, we said ‘golf tournament!’” junior Tom Ohlgren said.

Holt said that Simpson first floor north has traditionally hosted a golf tournament, but that third floor South is taking the reins this year.

“It’s kind of Tom and I’s brainchild, and I’m kind of the father,” junior Garret Holt said.

The course will be played in groups of four. Tee times will be assigned, and an announcer will be on hand to inform people that they are on deck and ready to tee off.

The course will consist of 18 holes in 18 rooms. Each hole will be designed by whoever’s room it’s in.

“There are a lot of characters on this hall,” senior David Shirey said. “Each room will be a surprise.”

There will be also be a concession stand at the event. Holt said he plans on wearing the harness that concession vendors wear at sporting events to sell snacks.

Ohlgren and Holt would like to assure everyone that on third floor south, golf by no means stands for “Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden.”

They would like all women to feel welcome to attend.
