Hillsdale College hired a masseuse. She is available to the student body by appointment.

Amy Zacharias is available for a half hour at $30 or for an hour at $50. Her normal schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but she is flexible and will work with students’ schedules on an individual basis. Her office is located on the top floor of the Ambler Health Center on Hillsdale Street.

Zacharias worked at Walton Chiropractic the past two years, and was asked in August to join the Hillsdale College Health and Wellness Center staff. She attended Baker College for two years in Jackson, Mich., before coming to the Hillsdale Walton Chiropractic on M-99.

“I wasn’t even planning on it, but I wanted to go to school to do something, that’s when I went to Baker,” said Zacharias.

In her appointments, Zacharias uses a variety of natural oils and bamboo to help relax her client’s muscles.

“The best part about my job is the look on people’s faces as they walk out my door,” she said. “It’s good to know I help people’s health and well-being, I like to make people feel better.”

Freshman Rachel Blaauw, a member of the college’s tennis team, recently had an appointment with Zacharias and said that athletes would benefit from her services.

“She does full body massages, so if you’re sore somewhere or in pain, then I’m sure she would help,” Blaauw said.

After her appointment Blaauw said her back pain had disappeared.

“The closeness is great,” she added. “I don’t have a vehicle so I just walked over there.”

The Hillsdale College Health Center is working to get the word out of Zacharias’ services by sending campus-wide emails since the beginning of the semester.

For students who would like to make appointments or have questions regarding her services, Zacharias can be contacted by call or text at (517) 745-3904 and is available immediately for new appointments.
