‘Greek Unity’ on campus

The Greek houses on campus are currently taking part in Greek Unity week.

The Greek students wore pin attire on Monday, their houses’ letters on Wednesday, and will wear “Go Greek” T-shirts on Friday. In addition to that, Greek students made Christmas cards that were brought to patients in the Hillsdale Community Health Center.

Senior Amelia Kerton, co-chair of Greek Unity Committee on the Panhellenic Council, said that this is the first time Greek Unity week has been held on campus.

“The purpose of Greek Unity week is just to unify the things we all hold in common,” she said. “We all are dedicated to philanthropy. It’s just having that physical image of being unified and doing something philanthropic.”

Senior Scott Rode said it was a good opportunity to unite Greeks across campus.

“It’s an opportunity for us to show our support for other Greek houses and the Greek system as a whole,” said senior Scott Rode, president of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. “It’s to give campus a visual example of strong student leaders who are Greek.”

Kerton said the event was simple this year but hopes that it will continue to grow and develop as the years go on, maybe including an academic component.

“I hope they want to do it again,” she said.
