October’s crisp air and falling leaves calls for a celebration.
On Oct. 18, the Awesome Autumn Progressive Party will sweep the downtown streets of Hillsdale. Located at the heart of Hillsdale is a nestled basin of shops with owners excited to share new products and treats with residents.
“It’s become an annual event. All of the downtown merchants want to thank our customers for the year,” said Kathy Newell, the Blossom Shop’s owner.
This is Hillsdale’s third consecutive year of celebration. Members of the community are invited to visit participating stores for free treats and refreshments.
“We want to invite people to come in and see what our shops have to offer. Many don’t realize all that downtown has to offer,” said Cindy Beiszk of the Hillsdale Filling Station deli.
Maps will be available for the addresses of all participating venues. Many locations have discounts on products and all are looking forward to welcoming every interested individual.
The main event will last from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Scheduled as a nearly four-hour occasion, the Awesome Autumn Progressive Party has a niche for everyone this year. Shoppers have the opportunity to walk through the businesses and check out the new season’s merchandise throughout the evening. The long awaited 6 p.m. carved pumpkin judging at the courthouse for creative members of the community will gather at 7 p.m. Further still is a 6:30 p.m. airing of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at the Hillsdale Theater.
Hosted by the Hillsdale Business Association, residents are entreated to drop by and enjoy the festivities that shopkeepers have been planning for several weeks.
“I’m looking forward to it. We get a lot of flow, have the opportunity to thank customers, and share in some fun together,” said Jill Nichols at JillyBeans Coffee House.
