The Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness of Hillsdale County will host its first Children’s Charity Ball at Johnny T’s Next Door on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The proceeds from the charity ball will go to the Baby Think It Over campaign.

Junior Taylor Lee currently works on staff at CAPA since January 2015.

“They were trying to find something fun that they could do in the winter to raise money for the Baby Think It Over campaign,” Lee said. “We have other events to raise capital during the warmer months, but not much in the winter.”

Lee explained that the Baby Think It Over campaign is a program in which CAPA goes into schools, usually on Fridays, and brings baby simulator dolls, which simulate what it is like to have a baby. The students will take the babies home to learn what it’s like to have baby.

“They usually gain a better respect and understanding of how difficult it is to raise the child,” Lee said.

The expected attendance  of the ball is around 300 people.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Lee said. “There will be live music, a silent auction, dinner, and a great time.”
