On March 11 at 8 p.m., Associate Professor of History Richard Gamble will offer a lecture in Dow A & B entitled, “Cain versus Cain: The Futile Quest for the One Story of History,” exploring historical awareness in light of Christianity.
Hosted by the Fairfield Society, a student-led organization seeking to marry theological and philosophical topics through informal discussion, the lecture shall commence the society’s series, “Life of Faith in the Academy.”
“Students – and faculty – of any major, of any year, and of any faith will find this lecture interesting and thought-provoking as it explores the intersection of Christianity and history and challenges the idea that history can be simplified into a single narrative,” said senior Alex Meregaglia, Fairfield Society president.
Meregaglia said the lecture series is designed to cultivate interdisciplinary conversations and provide a forum in which professors can talk about the intersection of his faith with his academic discipline.
