Spy balloons are just the next Biden debacle

From the tragic Afghanistan pullout to the rampant border crisis, the Biden administration has repeatedly proven its dishonesty and bad decision making, with the recent spy balloons passing over the U.S. merely being the newest debacle.

According to James Jay Carafano, a leading expert in national security and foreign policy challenges at the Heritage Foundation, the balloons are likely collecting data for China’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile launchers so they can threaten the U.S. with nuclear conflict.

It’s unclear whether Biden’s cabinet consists of limited expertise and experience to notice China’s schemes or the administration has an interest in China successfully gathering data with the balloons.

It’s doubtful that President Biden does not have an interest in this situation, though, because of his family’s long standing record of using his political positions to get rich — even if it compromises Americans’ safety and well-being in the process.

Whatever the case may be, it’s downright frightening for Americans to know that multiple strange white aerostats are flying overhead. Perhaps it’s even more sickening to know that the administration wasn’t going to say anything about the first balloon until the Billings Gazette reported on the 200-foot orb after civilians on an airline craft spotted it overhead Billings, Montana.

The Pentagon first detected the balloon over Alaska on Jan. 28, National Review reported. Four days later, the balloon traveled down to Montana and was sighted by the civilians. Ultimately, the balloon traveled the width of the U.S., with a U.S. fighter jet shooting it down on Feb. 4 only once it was off the coast of South Carolina. According to the administration, the balloon was not shot down until it had passed over the country so it wouldn’t cause any deaths or damage on land.

A second flying object was shot down over Alaska on Feb. 10, Fox News reported. U.S. forces could not confirm whether it was a balloon because it was obliterated upon hitting the Arctic Ocean. With Canada’s permission, the U.S. shot down a third flying object over the Yukon Territory on Feb. 11. The next day, the U.S. shot down a fourth flying object over Lake Huron.

FBI dive teams, the Navy, and Coast Guard are working to gather debris from the downed objects, and are taking it to FBI laboratories for analysis, CBS News reported.

China claimed that the first balloon was merely a civilian weather device that blew off course. It’s possible that three of the balloons do not belong to China, but four flying objects in U.S. airspace in the span of less than two weeks? That’s rather suspicious.

While it was good to see Biden give the OK for U.S. fighter jets to shoot down the balloons, at the same time it’s concerning to know that someone thought it was possible to send these balloons over our country to gather data on the U.S.

Additionally, the Biden administration and China’s responses to the balloons indicate dishonesty as they both downplay the situation. Biden said the balloons are probably just the property of private companies using them for scientific research, PBS NewsHour reported.

But the locations where the balloons passed over also contain the nuclear arsenals of the U.S. so it’s unlikely that the balloons were simply gathering scientific data.

Whether it’s China, private companies, or some other organization that owns the balloons, it appears that the U.S. is being tested to see how much we can be pushed over.

If the Biden administration continues to let foreign entities trespass in U.S. territory, the question arises: what’s coming next? The answer: nothing good.
