Before leaving campus for break, students may want to check out the library’s newest resource: Global Road Warrior.
Mossey Library provides students access to the resource to search information, including cultural details and travel tips, about more than 150 countries. The tool is available in the databases section of the library’s website.
“I was intrigued by the content,” Technical Service Librarian LeAnne Rumler said. “I thought that with all the students that do study abroad and other programs where they are going to be traveling abroad through the college that this would be a really good way for students to get some information about the countries where they are travelling.”
Rumler said the tool is useful for those planning a vacation for break or going abroad for an internship, as well.
The resource even has a section for specific electrical nuances of each country, informing travelers of what type of plugs they need to fit the electrical sockets there.
It may also be a useful tool for schoolwork. The user interface is clean, quick, and helpful for finding information on particular aspects of the country, everything from human rights to religion to money.
“I was especially intrigued by the cultural background that you could get from it,” Rumler said. “Like women doing business in certain countries, where it is not very straightforward.”
So plan before you pack, and check out Global Road Warrior.
