Two Chargers win bronze

The shotgun team added two bronze medals to their list of accomplishments over the summer. Important events are coming up this Fall, however, which could influence current standings substantially.

“Our two biggest shoots of the fall are the Association of College Unions International/Scholastic Clay Target Program Collegiate International National Championships and the NSCA National Championship,” Hintz said.

Hintz said a few key team members will be missing for certain shoots.

“The ACUI is held at Halter this year and we are reigning champions in both International Trap and Skeet, but four of our top international shooters–Jordan Sapp, Madeline Corbin, Josh Corbin, and Ava Downs–will be in Peru for the International Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Championship, so the rest of the team will have to step it up,” Hintz said.

Sophomore Madeline Corbin said the shotgun team has had some standout performances recently.

“Davis Hay made the skeet mens’ team for the Junior Olympics for USA Shooting,” Corbin said. “Four of us from the Hillsdale team went to Porpetto, Italy for the Junior World Cup.”

Josh Corbin, ’25, Jordan Sapp, ’26, and Madeline Corbin, ’27 all shot International Skeet, and both Sapp and Madeline Corbin placed.

“Jordan shot a perfect 125/125, setting a new world record for the Junior World Cup,” Corbin said.

Sapp said he is overjoyed with his performance.

“Being a world record holder has been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid, to be at the top of the game for as long as the organization has been around still has not settled with me yet. I plan on achieving my next dream of becoming an Olympian in 2028,” Sapp said.

Sapp received a bronze medal at the end of the shoot.

“I shot 116/125, went into the finals tied for 2nd, and ended up getting third place, so I also won a bronze,” said Madeline Corbin.

Hintz said that he has high hopes for both Madeline Corbin and Sapp this year.

“Madeline and Jordan are both athletes at the top of their game,” Hintz said. “They can medal in Peru and can win anything they set their minds to in collegiate matches.”
