Tastes of Life will partner with Hillsdale College’s Enactus to hold a Thanksgiving buffet on Saturday.

Event organizers hope that “Thanksgiving Extravaganza” will bring more students and community members into the restaurant in the future.

“We want to let people know where the restaurant is and become aware of its mission,” said senior Emily Wahl, Enactus initiative director for community development.

Tastes of Life is a nonprofit restaurant under the organization Life Challenge of Michigan, a faith-based program to help people with addictions.

“It’s an addictions discipleship program,” Tastes of Life owner Jack Mosley said. “We started Tastes of Life as a training center to work with individuals in the community and in the program.”

Mosley said students in the program learn life skills and workforce development while working at Tastes of Life.

The extravaganza, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 from 4 to 9 p.m., will feature live entertainment from Phi Mu Alpha as well as other student groups and a Thanksgiving meal.

“Our goal is to get people in the door so that hopefully they will come back,” senior Enactus member Kyra Moss said.

Moss has been working on marketing for the event, which has included radio ads, posters, and creating a Facebook event for it.

Enactus started working with Tastes of Life last year to improve its marketing by designing a new menu, website, and a Facebook page.

“We have seen an increase in sales because of that,” Mosley said.

Wahl said Enactus hopes to bring more people into the restaurant and hopefully bring returning customers.

“We are happy to try and support them in any way we can,” Wahl said.

Moss said students should come and check out the restaurant.

“It’s good to try new places,” Moss said. “You get tired of the same thing over and over again.”

Moss said she has eaten breakfast at Tastes of Life and enjoyed the food and the presentation.

“We don’t normally serve turkey and the trimmings,” Mosley said, “but it might open some doors for us.”

Any student with a school ID will receive a 15 percent discount off of the $12.99 price.

“By your giving, you may be sponsoring a student in the program or helping cover the ongoing expenses in the ministry,” Mosley said.

Tastes of Life, which Mosley described as “off the beaten path” is located on 3380 Beck Road.

“Come on out,” Wahl said. “It will be a good time.”
