Who wears a bowtie to class every Friday, loves the mind, and can’t stop smiling? Hillsdale’s newest Psychology professor, Joseph Weaver, does all three and more at his first full-time teaching job.
“This school is defined by its students, they are motivated and articulate in their desire for greater things,” Weaver said.
His previous teaching credentials include experience part time at his doctorate alma mater, Case Western, and Cleveland State University.
“Hillsdale is just so much different from both schools I’ve taught at” Dr. Weaver reported.
Weaver teaches two courses at Hillsdale: 100-level Intro to Psychology and 300-level Cognitive Psychology. He earned his undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State and his Ph. D. at Case Western Reserve. His doctoral thesis was on Emotional Regulation.
“I love the city of Hillsdale, the people are friendly and there’s a lot of greenery,” Weaver said.
While his heart will always be with his home in Mansfield, Ohio, Weaver is adjusting well to Hillsdale.
Weaver is married and has one four-and-a-half month old daughter, Evie, who he describes as “a hoot”.
“The community feeling at Hillsdale is pretty awesome,” Weaver said.
