Project Veritas is a nonprofit media company. According to its website, the group “investigates and exposes corruption, dishonesty, self-dealing, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions to achieve a more ethical and transparent society.”

Joshua Paladino ‘18, member of the Hillsdale County Republican Party’s executive committee, said the group’s decision for O’Keefe to speak reflected a larger public sentiment.

“The Hillsdale County Republican Party invited James O’Keefe because the American people have no trust in America’s corporate media and the ruling class that it exists to protect. We need reporters like O’Keefe who will investigate and confront corruption, incompetence, and evil,” Paladino said.

According to Paladino, both O’Keefe and Project Veritas have fought the issue of media bias.

“Instead, we have media outlets that dutifully mouth the slogans that corporate communications directors and government spokespersons tell them in press releases and news conferences. Reporters use subservient methods, including anonymous sourcing and background-with-quote-approval, and rarely investigate past the regime-approved limit,” Paladino said. “James O’Keefe and Project Veritas have rejected these trends and conducted original, on-the-ground reporting that has revealed crimes related to the murder and trafficking of fetuses, election fraud, and medical tyranny.”

Previous Lincoln Day Dinner speakers include Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield and former U.S. Senate candidate John James.
